French farm, La Ferme des Echancées made its ‘Contrat Poule’ (‘Chicken Contract’) service available to 50 towns. The service means that those who purchase one of the farm’s birds for EUR 52 effectively own it (though it stays at the farm). The owners then receive packages of eggs (delivery time can be set for one six pack every week, or one every 15 days) for one year, and at the end of the nesting season they have the option of having the carcass delivered to them so that it can be cooked. The farm guarantees freshness, with less than 48 hours between the laying of eggs and their delivery.
